I was in room 81 building E. All the staff were really nice and they seem to be around all day and evening. Always available to help when needed. Although they don’t do house keeping daily during this season they were very fast with giving new towels or trash bags when asked. Again I was just so taken back by how nice all the staff was. Always saying hi when passing you or answering any question you have and even willing to stop and bring you to the location in question. The room itself was newly renovated in many areas in the room including the bathroom And floor. The pool was also nice. The kids loved it. I personally enjoyed the hot tub. Lastly I really enjoyed the barbecue area. 4 grills and 4 tables were all in great working condition. I really appreciated that the grilling utensils were provided and they even cleaned them after use. They have really thought about all the different areas to make the stay more enjoyable. I will definitely return for my next OOB vacation. Thanks Waves Oceanfront for a great family vacation!!!

This hotel... IS FREAKING AMAZING! Rooms are fantastic not once was anything bad the only reason Rooms are 4/5 stars is the TV's but besides that the Rooms are amazing most even have a balcony which is nothing short of amazing. Service wise... great, front desk was quick and we tried checking in early they didn't let us but about 5 seconds down the road they call us saying, "Your room is ready!" By the way we checked in 2 hours early. And the location is right on the beach chefs kiss. This is your go to hotel in old orchard beach.

Overall had a pretty good experience at the waves. Definitely more positive than negative, and while the resort definitely is showing some signs of aging, Overall for a family of four including a 4 year old and 1 year old it hit the majority of our checklist. Length of stay: 3 days, 2 nights. Mid July Price was around $300 a night for a mid tier building as the resort is more of a compound with some buildings being more expensive than others. Positives: - Location was definitely a positive. We were about a ten minute walk to the pier and amusement park, and within easy walking distance of multiple bars and restaurants. - There was an on site market for most beach and hotel room needs such as beer, snacks, etc… which was super convenient. - An on site small coffee/breakfast/ice cream shoppe was once again convenient. While they could use some reorganization in the shop itself, it was nice to get a decent cold brew ($6.00) as early as 7am. Definitely not a place to grab a macchiato or anything fancy, but an iced or hot coffee and grab and go breakfast sandwich was nice. - Proximity to the beach was awesome, probably 400 feet from our room, and there were some rooms (not ours) with a great ocean view. The beach was clean, easily accessible, and a nice aspect for the kids. - The pool complex was great. Staying at the waves grants you access to the Seaview and Ocean house pools as well. The waves pool was GREAT for families and was quite busy. It had multiple levels ranging from maybe 6 inches deep which our 1 year old Loved, to as deep as 5 feet which our four year old loved splashing around in. There was a hot tub as well which was a good size as well. There was a staff member on site of the pool the majority of the time, however no lifeguards were present. There was also an adults only time at the waves resort after 8pm which did not seem to be strictly enforced. The seaview and ocean house pools had no cutoff times for kids vs. adults to my knowledge. - We were able to check in early which was a us having arrived at 12:30 despite a normal 3pm check in time. - Parking was ample, and convenient throughout the resort. - Staff overall were friendly and responsive. Rooms for example did not come with microwaves- When we requested one to heat up milk for a bottle, one was brought to our room in literally 5 minutes, a great response time. Negatives: - WiFi around the resort was spotty at best, and in most cases I was on my own network and used hotspot access for any additional devices. - Air conditioning in the room was handled by a portable unit which was essentially hardwired in and was overall fine, but I don’t think the room ever got below 70 degrees despite the unit constantly being on and always felt like it was catching up to get the room cooler - The room size was a negative for us, but we also had a pack and play for sleeping which took up some space. There was an oversized chair and desk in the room which took up unnecessary space, and with 4 total people it was definitely tight. In a room with only two adults, or a king instead of the 2 queens we had, there would obviously be more space to move around in. We did had a porch/patio which was nice for breakfast and late night, but during the day was extremely hot in the sun. - Checkout time was 10am instead of the normal 11 we were used to with no option for a late checkout which was a bit annoying. Overall we would absolutely stay here again, and as our kids get older the resort will be even more fitting for our family. There were definitely some downsides, but we felt there were far more positives and value for what we paid

Room #79 Staff was friendly and helpful. The only problem we had in our stay was that the patio door had a huge gap, and being our first night was very windy and cold, it made that half of the room cold. Maintenance came quickly to try and fix the issue, he was able to help but it wasn’t fully fixed. They offered us to move to another room up until our last full day, so we just stayed in the original room. Other than this, it was a great place to stay, and I would come back if I came back to Maine! The underground parking doesn’t work very well being there are concrete blocks in the way, making it more difficult to maneuver around, but parking outside is available too.

Place is a little older- could use some more updates but you can see they ARE doing some. There was nothing that was overly concerning at all. We enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly. Thanks for hosting us for our AAU tournament stay.

Our room was set up very well. I've never seen a setup quite like it instead of just two beds next to each other. There was a little separation so it was almost like we had our own rooms in a way which was very nice. The reason I can't give it all fives though is we thought we had a room on the beach. Lord knows we paid the price for it LOL but our room was across the street from the beach which isn't a huge deal but we felt like we were misled a little bit. Also, there were only outside stairs to get up to your room and with suitcases it was very cumbersome and if you wanted ice you had to go across the street and then go all the way back up the stairs so that was a little inconvenient.
